hamilton is wonderful in so many ways - one of them is the system of parks and waterfalls directly in the city. over the glorious holiday weekend, we took a day to celebrate my 30th birthday, just the two of us, and went for a hike to albion falls.
honestly, I haven't altered the colour on these at all. it was such a spectacular weekend, warm [even hot!] sunny weather, clear blue skies and spectacular autumn leaves. as kate busby said, 'This weather is your birthday present from mother nature - I hear she likes you.'
the striations in the rock were so vividly coloured as well, and when I picked some up for a closer look, discovered that they were turquoise and purple layers on mineral rich clay.
there were a few other families and couples and groups exploring the area, and snapping lots of pictures.
