thew one of a kind show starts tomorrow - april 1st!
please come visit me at the direct energy centre in toronto, i'm in booth H 22
Tuesday
Monday
for the show
i'm very happy with the drawings on these, and the new colours of american apparel wear that i chose. i agonized for weeks over which colour to choose, and settled on dijon for the kids' tees [ size 2 & 4] and olive for the onesies [3 months - 24 months]. i am a bit of a sucker for food names.
Saturday
indie media fair

i'll be down at the central branch of the london public library today for the indie media fair. i'll have smaller items, like wallets, buttons and tees - including some adult tees, for the first time.
at 3 o'clock i'll be doing a screenprinting demo in the tonda room, as well. hope to see you there.
Friday
return
after the christmas one of a kind show, i drove out to halifax, nova scotia with kyla, to take part in the holday halifax crafters show, and to visit the friends i was sorely missing. when we were a few hours north east of toronto, ,there were huge flocks of geese all migrating south. i'd never seen anything like it, the v and w shaped formations were just massive, with hundreds of geese in them. the geese have been returning to ontario for a couple of weeks now - i can hear them honking overhead early in the mornings.
bits and pieces
i've learned that despite the fact that it is infinitely more enjoyable to create each piece from start to finish on its own, it is far more economical and practical to make many of something all at the same time. i often 'chain' together the similar pieces of whatever it is i'm making - in this case wallets - and then snip them apart. that way you can keep the machine going and going, and it all gets done quickly.
it also makes for a good study in repetition, which as a textile pattern designer and screenprinter is always interesting, and also inspiring.
Monday
almost there
orchids are certainly not for the impatient. the flower spike for this started way back in december, and finally the very first bud has been very slowly opening. the first photo above is two days ago, and below that is from today. not fully open yet, but spectacular nonetheless.
and with many more buds to follow!
Friday
wallets
i have a number of small shows coming up, starting with the london indie media fair on march 21st, so i'm busy making a number of smaller items. above are the outsides for wallets, printed and waiting to be heatset. you can see a list of events here, on my website, and wallets are found here, on etsy.
Wednesday
yardage
i always seem to do this - as a big show gets close, i have an idea for a new print theme that i really love, and of course really need to do for the upcoming show. In this case, the spring one of a kind show is less than a month away, and this farm business came out.
i decided to go with a two-colour print on a wonderful natural unbleached cotton, and am very happy with the results.
